Step 4: Review Inspection & Negotiate Repairs
Inspection results help buyers understand issues and make confident decisions. Effective negotiation ensures buyers are protected and costs are addressed fairly.
Explain difference between cosmetic vs material defects.
Use the report to identify necessary repairs or concessions.
Request assistance drafting repair stipulations when needed.
Contact your vendor resources to get estimates for the various repairs needed.
- Request repairs tied directly to inspection findings. Consider asking for seller concessions instead of repairs. That way the buyer can complete the repairs after the closing.
- Avoid cosmetic requests that may weaken negotiations.
- Upload repair agreements and receipts to DTR.
- Ensure repair deadlines align with contract terms.
